Warming Muscle Rub

1 Cup Coconut Oil

1 Cup Olive Oil

1/2 Cup Arnica

1 Jalapeno

3 TBSP Ginger Root

3 TBSP Turmeric Root

3 TBSP Black Peppercorn

1/4 Cup Beeswax*

Infusing the Oil

  • Combine the coconut oil and olive oil in a heat safe container.

  • Take the jalapeño and carefully poke holes all around it to allow the oils to infuse.

  • Add in Arnica, dried ginger root*, dried turmeric root*, Black Peppercorn, Jalapeno.

*If you can't find dried ginger root and dried turmeric root, then powder will work. The oil may be a bit cloudy from the power but this is ok and won't hurt the oils or the outcome.

  • Fill the pan with water, enough to cover the bottom and some of the jar. You don't want too much that water will bubble into the container. Put a lid in the middle of the pan. Place on stove and turn on.

  • Add the heat safe container to the pan, making sure that you place the container on the lid in the middle. Keeping the jar off the bottom will prevent burning.

  • Allow the herbs to infuse into the oils in the pot on low for a minimum of 4 hours. Keep checking the water level to make sure that it doesn't get too low.

  • Take off heat and allow to cool.

Straining the Oil

  • Place cheesecloth over a bowl and pour oils into the bowl, allowing the cheesecloth to catch the herbs.

  • Squeeze the cheesecloth to release more oils. Be aware that the jalapeño will much in there, if you don't want to feel the heat from the jalapeño, discard before putting through the cheesecloth.

  • You may also pour into a metal strainer, just make sure to press the oils out with a wooden spoon.

Melting the Wax

  • Place strained oils back on the stover to double broil again.

  • Put in wax and allow to melt.

*You can test how much wax you want by placing a spoon in the freezer. Take the spoon out when you are ready and place a drop of the oil mix on it. That will cool it down and have it take shape. Take the dried drop and rub it on your skin to see if that is the consistency you desire.

  • Pour wax mixture into a glass container and store in the fridge until ready to use.

*Use may use any herbs that you wish in the recipe. It is very universal and will adapt with any herbs and oils that you choose!
